TECHNOLOGY SERVICES GROUP MAKES SHAREPOINT CONSULTANCY ACQUISITION

Technology Services Group Ltd (TSG) has acquired North East Microsoft SharePoint consultancy Rocket Solutions. Closely following the recent purchase by TSG of CRM specialists Concentrix Ltd, this acquisition is a further strategic step in the growth of the business and will considerably increase their SharePoint and Business Intelligence (BI) skills and expertise.

This is the twenty-fifth acquisition by TSG, since its launch in 2003, and represents continued progress in building a UK-wide service network, providing complete IT services to thousands of businesses.

In recent years, Microsoft SharePoint has become one of the fastest growth technologies in the UK, due to its ability to integrate with existing software, extensive reporting and BI capability and its flexibility to be tailored to individual business needs. TSG has recognised this growing demand for SharePoint expertise and in response has built up a team of SharePoint specialists. The addition of the consultants from Rocket Solutions to the TSG team will bring extensive SharePoint and BI skills and the ability to implement more complex and comprehensive solutions.

Rocket Solutions is an independently owned specialist consultancy based in Newcastle upon Tyne. The business was established in 2008 and works with organisations across the North of England, providing solutions to complex business problems. With extensive experience in offering Business Intelligence, Enterprise Portals and Performance Management solutions, Rocket Solutions presently works with a number of high profile customers such as Drax Power Ltd, Your Homes Newcastle (YHN), Leeds Bradford Airport and Parkdean Holidays.

Geof Ellingham, Head of IT, Your Homes Newcastle (YHN) comments

"Rocket Solutions has worked closely with YHN as a strategic partner in the delivery of our SharePoint intranet. The acquisition of Rocket by TSG is an exciting development for the team and they will bring extensive skills, experience and expertise of SharePoint and BI solutions to TSG. We look forward to continuing to work closely with them”.

David Stonehouse, TSG’s Chief Executive comments

“The Rocket Solutions acquisition is a further strategic step in TSG’s growth strategy and will significantly improve our SharePoint and Business Intelligence skills and expertise. As a very well respected consultancy in the North East, we are excited to have the team from Rocket Solutions joining our business. We have seen considerable growth in the demand for SharePoint and BI projects from our customer base over the last two years and the wealth of skills which the Rocket team hold makes the business an excellent fit for TSG”.

Justin Short, Rocket Solutions Managing Director comments

“Over the last 3 years we have built a strong reputation on solving the most complex of business challenges and helping a wide variety of clients. Becoming part of TSG will allow us to continue our growth and provide our existing customers with a greater depth of services through access to the full TSG product portfolio including business software, proactive support, telecoms and virtualisation solutions. We look forward to sharing our SharePoint expertise with TSG customers and continuing to provide our customers with the high levels of service they receive today’.

TSG employs over 500 staff and provides services to thousands of businesses nationwide, from Southampton in the south, to Aberdeen in the north. Following the acquisition of Rocket Solutions, TSG intends to continue its expansion plans with further acquisitions across the UK.

The acquisition process was overseen on behalf of TSG by Newcastle-based legal firm Sintons through partner Matt Collen, working with Mark Simpson and Lee Humble from UNW’s corporate finance team. Rocket Solutions was advised by Ward Hadaway through partner Richard Butts, working with corporate finance organisation Tait Walker and partner David Arthur.
