TSG implements SystemCare 2 IT Support for Morningside Pharmaceuticals
Morningside Pharmaceuticals Ltd supplies medicines, hospital consumable products and equipment to more than 60 countries across the developing world, in the private, public and aid sectors.
The medical supplies distributor provides wholesale services to the UK, and trades internationally from its Leicestershire headquarters, spanning five key regions of Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, the Middle East and Far East.
The business started in 1991 purely as an exporter of medical supplies, but has expanded its new division to provide a wholesale supply of its own branded products to the UK.

The customer objectives
Managing Director of Morningside Pharmaceuticals, Dr Nik Kotecha, explains the requirements. ‘I’m a great believer in outsourcing areas of the business that we are not experts in ourselves. I was looking for an IT provider who would be able to service my entire infrastructure, so I wasn’t constantly juggling between different service suppliers if I needed support.’ Choosing the right supplier was therefore an important process for Dr Kotecha, and one which he undertook personally.
He placed particular emphasis on the value of service rather than the price, and was reassured by the depth of experience available throughout TSG at both local and national level. Dr Kotecha comments: ‘TSG wasn’t the cheapest of the three companies we considered, but the demonstrable quality of their services and professionalism was by far the best. I liked the way they approached us, and felt comfortable with the solution they were proposing. We’re highly reliant on IT to run the business, and I was impressed with their proactive mentality. As well as supporting our hardware, TSG assured us they would help with any Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel queries we might have, which was exactly the sort of support I was looking for.’
The TSG Solution
Initially, TSG provided a full system health check covering Morningside Pharmaceuticals’ IT infrastructure. This highlighted the performance of existing hardware, servers and networks and which areas required attention.
TSG then installed SystemCare, an IT Support service, with remote monitoring to maintain a consistent check on backup procedures. With SystemCare, Morningside rely on TSG to spot any issues before they impact on the business. Sophos software was upgraded to manage anti-virus and anti-spam throughout the company.

Knowing that the IT network is being constantly monitored by TSG's IT Support solution is a huge relief to Dr Kotecha. Staff can focus on improving service, increasing profits, and the general day-to-day running of the business, while IT experts look after the system. TSG also installed a Virtual Private Network (VPN) which has given Morningside secure access to information and can be accessed safely from anywhere in the world using the web browser, giving the capability to synchronise, store and retrieve data from any location with access to the Internet.
The future for TSG and Morningside Pharmaceuticals
TSG will be working closely with Morningside Pharmaceuticals to help develop the IT infrastructure in line with the growth of the business. One area under consideration is the construction of a Morningside SharePoint site, which will provide a secure global communication portal and data exchange to increase collaboration between suppliers, customers and other service providers. Taking into account the specific nature of Morningside Pharmaceuticals’ business, this should prove a positive step for improving aid and medical supplies distribution throughout the world.
