Microsoft Office 365 for Education - the perfect platform for:

  • Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs)

  • Intelligent CPD management

  • Secure storage for students

  • Collaboration and sharing

  • Preparation of learning resources

  • Managing parental consent

Key elements of Office 365

  • SharePoint is the ideal platform on which to build an extensive Virtual Learning Environment used by staff and students to post documents, videos, blogs, learning materials and coursework, as well as provide valuable two-way feedback on classes.

Such is the versatility of SharePoint, it can be used to develop HR and CPD tools and also provide a mechanism to communicate with parents and guardians.

  • Modern Office 2016 applications including Word, PowerPoint and Excel are used extensively by teachers and students alike for preparation and delivery of all class work.

A powerful add-on to PowerPoint, we’re confident that Office Mix will be an invaluable tool for the preparation and delivery of media-rich learning resources. It’s a great example of the innovation Microsoft continues to develop.

  • Skype for Business can transform communication between students and teachers, giving them the ability to send instant messages, speak and have video conferences at any time from school-owned or personal devices; directly impacting student engagement, support and results.

Equally, it enables students to have real-time two-way conversations with other students from partner schools across the globe, using video conferencing and screen sharing to interact, immersing themselves in other cultures and broadening their learning experiences.

  • In deploying Office 365 for Education, students benefit from individual, secure, cloud-based document storage environments in OneDrive from which they can store and access work. You can manage teacher access for fast coursework submission.

Digital transformation

‘Digital transformation’ is buzzword that you’re likely to hear most in relation to technology over the coming months.

So what is ‘digital transformation’?

According to one definition it is ‘the use of technology to radically improve the performance or reach of enterprises’.

It’s certainly a concept that schools and academies should be embracing, especially considering their role in nurturing a generation of so-called Millennials who are growing up as ‘digital natives’ and will expect the workplace of the future to be driven by the experience of technology in their personal lives.

That’s not the only reason the education sector should care about digital transformation.

As with any organisation, digital transformation brings the opportunity to improve processes, reduce costs, manage the risks associated with the modern technology environment, increase morale and, of course, deliver a better service for students, parents, stakeholders and the communities they serve.

In the classroom, technology has been the norm for some time and to a greater or lesser extent the VLE provides a collaborative environment; albeit that the user experience is not always seamless and occasionally fails to meet expectation.

Collaboration and productivity are key for students, teachers and back-office staff alike and that’s where Microsoft is focused with its stated aim of ‘empowering every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more’.

Do you have manual processes that are time-consuming and difficult to manage? Are you always confident that you’re working with the most up to date version of a document? How sophisticated are the tools you use to analyse performance on both a global and granular level? Are you still transferring documents or data on USB drives?
