Harnessing the Power of the Cloud: 25% Increase in Cloud Spend for 2017

The demand for off premise solutions is set to skyrocket, with the IDC predicting a 25% increase in cloud spend in 2017 compared to 2016.

Both Gartner and the IDC released their cloud predictions with each focused on different markets. IDC retains its focus on IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, while Gartner looked at management and security services, cloud advertising and cloud business process services. Results from both organisations were mostly in agreement about the future of cloud services.

It’s widely understood that the cloud has now moved from the side-lines of IT strategy to a central focus in the world of IT. Cloud is now a serious consideration for IT professionals across all industries and as it becomes a more prominent fixture, the once common myths surrounding ‘the cloud’ are dying out.

“Cloud computing continues to dominate IT and business conversations worldwide as acceptance of the concept becomes mature. Hype remains high, and adoption is increasing.” -Gartner

Organisations are now understanding the value of the cloud for a number of reasons; agility, scalability, mobility, cost benefits and business growth. Industry events such as Futuretech are shattering myths and showing organisations how to harness the power of the cloud. Now it’s not a question of whether cloud is an option for many businesses, but rather when and which solution has the right business fit.

Aberdeen Group reported in 2016 that there were 1.6 billion permutations to choose from in the cloud. Our aim is to guide our customers in the decision making process when it comes to implementing the right cloud solution. What may seem like a straight forward solution can quickly become complex when you throw IaaS, Paas, private, public and hybrid into the mix. Talk to our cloud experts.

A noticeable trend prediction is the enterprise level of cloud adoption. Enterprises are now facing stiff competition from smaller more agile organisations who are adopting cloud ecosystems to improve communications and generate efficiencies across a range of processes.
