My Name is Mark Watson and I am the Technical Training Officer for TSG.
My role in TSG is to plan and deliver technical training to our internal teams helping them to develop their own skills to allow them to provide a higher level of service to our customers over the longer term.
I am currently on a two year secondment from our Technical Support Team where I have performed many roles within the business since TSG was formed, from support consultant to leading the escalation team. I can honestly say I have enjoyed the variety of challenges over the years.
I have always been given opportunities to improve myself in so many ways be it with internal or external technical training courses (and associated exams) leading to my various professional certifications (From the older Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) to the ultra-modern Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate(MCSA) in both Windows Server 2012 and Office 365, VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) , CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) and Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) to name a few) or with the in-house personal development courses such as leadership, presentation skills and even blogging (Check out our blog page where you can see all of our contributions).
Not in my wildest dreams would I have thought that a “Shy tech geek” such as myself could develop into what I am today - TSG’s Technical Trainer “A Microsoft Guru” prepared to stand in front of a class of likeminded “techies” and help them to develop and improve their own skills, I am today giving something back in recognition of those who invested their time in my development over the years. If they too were to obtain their certifications (and I will help them along the way) that would be a bonus.
Key to all of this is the willingness and enthusiasm of the Senior Management Team to develop the people within the business by providing training and development to staff at all levels – long may it continue.
