Brady Bags Gains Complete Visibility with Pegasus Opera

Brady Bags is a UK-based manufacturing company with a 140‑year history, producing high‑quality products such as bags and accessories. Brady Bags operates independently in the UK but works closely with their Japanese owners, requiring seamless collaboration across time zones.

When Systems Create Blind Spots

Brady Bags adopted a new business system after becoming independent, but it proved to be unfriendly, error‑prone, and lacked safeguards. The old system made it too easy to make mistakes, with no checks or warnings.   It would allow any change to be made without any warning; accidental changes or inputs would just automatically override any prior information.

The business needed a system that allowed remote access across time zones and departments. Their existing setup didn’t support that level of transparency or accessibility. Additionally, the new software needed to work for both the shop floor and the accounts team. Their system didn’t support the processes needed for production planning, batch numbers, or the level of control needed across departments.

The current system lacked a single source of truth for orders, production workflows, raw materials, and accounts information. This slowed them down and created unnecessary manual work, like physically chasing updates with staff.

Building Transparency from the Ground Up

Brady Bags had previously used Pegasus Opera under their old parent company, but after becoming independent and struggling with another system, TSG implemented a brand‑new Pegasus system from the ground up.  This wasn’t a migration: it was a complete rebuild, tailored to the business.

Opera on Pegasus Business Cloud enabled remote access from Japan and 24/7 visibility without relying on employees being available at unsociable hours. The whole team can now access information.

TSG configured Opera to meet the needs of both key areas of the business.

Manufacturing: Works Orders, Work in Progress tracking, production planning visibility, and batch numbers for product tracking.

Accounting: Full accounting structure, commodity codes for duty/tax compliance, and accurate stock and order reporting.

This configuration reduced the operational burden, allowing others to see work-in-progress orders, stock, and priorities.  The new system provided the structure, checks, and safeguards they were missing in their previous system.  Where mistakes were easily made with the previous system, Opera allows Brady Bags to see the consequences of any changes and how they can alter other areas that may not have been considered.

From One-Person Dependency to Team Transparency

Since implementing Pegasus, Brady Bags have seen the following benefits:

Reduction in operational bottlenecks: Before Pegasus, everything depended on one person, even when they were away from the business. Now the Brady Bags team can check production progress, see what needs to go into production next, and pick up tasks where they were left off.

Increased transparency: Brady Bags can now clearly see where every order is, what raw materials have been ordered, who has been paid, and what still needs attention.

Time saved through visibility: The team can now be self-sufficient, no longer needing to “physically go elsewhere” for answers.

Stronger production planning & workflow control: Opera’s ability to work orders, work-in-progress tracking, and clear visibility of task progress has boosted planning efficiency and reduced the risk of errors.

Custom configurations that match manufacturing reality: TSG created bespoke configurations specific to manufacturing operations, including correct commodity codes for material, batch number logic based on product type, and custom invoice layouts. These tweaks ensured accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Implementation that worked around production schedules: TSG adapted the project around Brady Bags’ busy production schedules. Work was paused/resumed around travel and operational needs, and TSG team members provided ongoing support even after the project's close.

After having experienced other providers, I can honestly say that working with TSG and using the Opera system is by far the most beneficial and pleasant experience that we at Brady Bags have had. The team are extremely supportive, and the systems are smooth and offer Brady the opportunity to grow and make our every day working easier and more effective. We look forward to continuing expanding our systems with the help of the TSG team.
