Leading IT services business, TSG (Technology Services Group) has appointed Gerry Duffy in the role of Group Sales Director.
Duffy takes over with immediate effect from Jim Henderson who has led the sales team for more than 6 years and will be retiring later in the Spring.
With nearly 30 years’ experience, Duffy is a true technology industry specialist.
After rising through the ranks to become Managing Director of a specialist software and IT services business in South Africa, he returned to the UK to join Nokia where he held a number of senior roles including Business Development Director and Customer Operations Director for Nokia’s fixed network infrastructure business across Northern Europe and Scandinavia.
From there, in a “poacher turned gamekeeper scenario”, he joined THUS, who had been a customer while he was at Nokia, to lead the transformation of their sales functions and market focus. Thus’ revenues expanded from £330m to just under £600m and market share almost doubled during his 6 year tenure.
TSG’s Chief Executive, David Stonehouse explains the significance of the appointment, “At a time when the industry is facing significant challenges, TSG are well positioned to capitalise on opportunities as businesses are being encouraged to change the way they consume their technology.”
“Gerry brings with him an impressive track record of managing complex go-to-market strategies on a national and international level. I’m confident that his vast experience across development, applications, network management, operations and customer services will be invaluable as we move forward.”
Duffy is enthused about the challenges that lie ahead, “having taken the opportunity prior to my formal start-date to spend time and immerse myself in the business, meeting a number of my new colleagues, I can honestly say that I’m incredibly impressed with the level of capability, commitment and expertise that resides within the company.”
“There’s immense potential to lead our customers on an exciting journey, helping them to leverage technology to improve their productivity and to have a material impact on their bottom line.”
Whilst Henderson is stepping aside, prior to his retirement he will be focusing on building TSG’s line-of-business applications offerings to ensure that customers are making well-informed strategic decisions with regard to the potential adoption of cloud based services.
