IT support, security and infrastructure refresh for Distillers
Situated just outside of Edinburgh, Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd has built an enviable portfolio of premium quality spirits spanning well over 80 years.
With popular brands including Glengoyne, Tamdhu, Smokehead and Edinburgh Gin, it’s clear why the distillers produce and sell over 15 million bottles of spirits every year.
Over the course of 12-18 months, the distillers had experienced much business growth which highlighted the need to kick-start its approach to technology to stay ahead of the competition.
With ageing equipment and infrastructure, the distillers required a robust and reliable network to aid progression and help streamline business processes.
The solution: IT Support, IT Security and infrastructure refresh
Following in-depth audits and analysis of its IT setup, TSG has become an extension of the distillers’ IT team, providing weekly proactive on-site visits and offering expert knowledge across all channels of the IT environment.
With IT security concerns high on the agenda, TSG installed Sophos Endpoint, UTM, Intercept X, and Symantec Email Security to envelop the business’ network.
TSG replaced the distillers’ ageing IT infrastructure, utilising virtualisation technologies to consolidate its server estate. In doing so TSG created a highly available and reliable platform the business could depend on to deliver first-class network performance.
In addition, to provide a durable disaster recovery solution, TSG repurposed one of the distillers’ servers to be used as a Hyper-V replica should it be required, with on-premise servers backed up to the cloud.
“With ageing IT equipment, we knew we needed to explore what was available to modernise the business from hardware right through to order process. TSG didn’t overwhelm us with countless technologies on the market, rather recommended solutions which would best fit our business needs.”
